Technical Metal Specialties is an industry leader in metal fabrication offering the perfect blend between technology and experience. Today’s cutting-edge equipment, combined with more than 100 years of metal fabrication expertise on the floor, lets TMS deliver top-quality products that truly exceed customer expectations — every time.

The company was incorporated in 1971 as Flur Wire and Metal, supplying mass transit seat framing, illuminated menu boards, and point-of-purchase display systems. In 1990 Tim Michel and Tom Sheahan acquired the business and rebranded it Technical Metal Specialties. Over four decades it has grown to 108,000 square feet in New Berlin, Wisconsin, serving leading names in transit seating, military, OEM, P.O.P. displays, in-store environments, and custom fabrication.

What sets TMS apart is complete one-stop customer service: design, prototypes, sub-processing, final production, and assembly — from a team that supports fifty-person start-ups and global manufacturers with equal attention.

QUALITY

Conforming Product, Delivered On Time

Quality at TMS is checked at four points — not just at the end. First piece, in production, first article, and final inspection each gate the job before it moves, backed by poka-yoke error-proofing designed into the process itself.

  • ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system
  • 1st piece, in-production, first article, and final inspection stages
  • Poka-yoke error-proofing built into production processes
  • Inspection table, surface plates, height gages, and pin gages
  • Calipers and micrometers for dimensional verification
  • AWS certified weld inspectors on site
ISO 9001:2015 certified

Engineering Support Before the First Cut

The in-house design center is fully computerized and works in Pro/E, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD, accepting IGES, STEP, PDF, and image files. DFM consulting and early supplier involvement mean manufacturability problems get solved at the design stage — not discovered on the shop floor.

“Technical Metal Specialties’ policy is to serve our customers with conforming product, delivered on-time, at a fair price and to pursue continual improvement activities.”
